Multiplane
A reusable page component that allows designers to create scrollable parallax animations

At Disney, I created an interactive multiplane camera animation tool to bring motion into our sites.
Inspired by Walt Disney’s multiplane camera, the tool allows designers to layer images on top of one another, and apply transforms to them based on the user's scroll position. The goal was that our team of designers would be able to easily create animated experiences for our websites without needing developers to write any custom code.
I gave an overview of this project during my session at WordCamp 2025.

The layer has become pretty common in creative tooling, so my initial concept was to create layer components in the UI that would allow designers to upload images and choose the speed at which they wanted a transform to occur. The order of the layers would correspond to their z-index.

Each layer had various controls for manipulation:

This tool has become a go-to for quickly building interactive experiences for brand initiatives on the Disney Parks Blog.
